AN EXPLANATION ABOUT THE 15th NOVEMBER BRUSSELS CAMPAIGN

Next 15th November a CGT trade union delegation from the Spanish state will go to Brussels to complain against the telemarketing sector precariousness and insist that this activity violates, among many other things, the European regulation.

This call center operators delegation will consist in 26 workmates from the Spanish companies Atento, Emergia, Extel, GSS, Illunion, Konecta, Sitel, Teleperformance, Transcom and Unisono, coming from so different places as Corunna, Barcelona, Cordoba, Lleida, Malaga, Seville, Valencia, Valladolid, Zaragoza and Madrid.

We plan to spread a series of activities to propagate our struggle for a decent collective agreement by explaining the actions we’ve carried out so far and the ones we intend to perform soon.

CGT will show a legal report about the violation of European regulation in this activity to the European authorities.

From a historical point of view telemarketing is a precarious sector which has been further and further downgraded by the working laws. The previous collective agreement, which was in force since 2010 until 2014, included a major salary moderation that resulted in the loss of a 5% worth of purchasing power.

For the new collective agreement the managers association keeps trying to cut down on working rights so as to increase flexibility clauses and avoid solving any current problems of this activity.

Besides the activities scheduled with Spanish members of the European Parlament, a press conference and some other visible actions within the frame of this visit to Brussels, we at Spanish CGT make an international call to participate at a gathering in front of the European Parlament at Luxembourg Square. This gathering is scheduled at 11:30 a.m. and will make this conflict visible to this institution.

We regret not to have enough time on that day for an international meeting with telemarketing workers, but we wish to thank all our European workmates who eventually come to this gathering in support of the Spanish telemarketing workers.

We wait for all of you who want to participate in this action.
